And the band plays on...
Easily classified as the most tumultuous project in the Command & Conquer community, Command & Conquer: Reborn is ramping up for their latest infantry-only beta, to be released sometime after New Year's. Originally, the plan was to release the beta before Christmas, but according to Renardin: "We were unable to have a RC of the beta ready for Christmas. We didn't want to make as [Reborn development group] Deezer did in 2003."
Reborn plans to take the classic Real-Time Strategy title Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, and transform it using now-defunct Westwood Studios' W3D engine into a first-person shooter title, complete with all the buildings, vehicles and superweapons that made the strategy title so popular. Players choose classes based on gameplay style. The classes include the elusive sniper, the helpful engineer, the cannon-fodder minigunner, grenadiers, commandos and a plethora more. The vehicle, picture-perfect conversions of Tiberian Sun's, include buggies, helicopters, and the franchise classic Orcas, Titans, Wolverines, and the terrifying Mammoth MK II.
Expect a release soon.
